Carlson Viking - installing new Firmware through Wifi

The new firmware requires SurvPC 7.12 or higher

1. Connect your tablet to Wifi and run SurvPC 7
2. From the main menu in SurvPC tap the “File” tab in the top left then tap the “About Carlson SurvPC x64” button in the bottom right
3. Tap the grey hardhat in the far top left then tap "Check for Software Update"
4. Tap YES if it prompts a new version of SurvPC is available
5. Once you are prompted the download is complete = Tap File / Exit / Yes and follow the steps to install the newest version

After verifying you are on SurvPC 7.12 or higher - download and install the new Viking Firmware

1. Click the link below to download the new Viking Firmware 1.4.1:
Viking_GAMA_1.4.1.swu
2. Run SurvPC 7.12 or higher and tap "Connect to last Device" to reconnect bluetooth to this Viking unit
***If necessary - run Equip / GPS base or GPS Rover / green check to connect to the specific unit you are working with
3. From the main menu of SurvPC - tap the grey hardhat far top left then tap Help
4. Tap “Open WebUI” to launch a browser and display the WebUI interface
5. Once you are in the WebUI tap the “Admin” tab in the bottom right then scroll down and tap “Update”
6. Tap “Upload Update File”
7. Browse to the “Viking_GAMA_1.4.1 swu” file in your Downloads folder from the link above and tap Open
8. It will take 5 minutes showing “Uploading” then another 4 minutes showing “Update being Processed”
9. When it shows “Reboot / Reconnect to Device” and the Viking unit says “Viking Ready” out loud the process is complete
10. Tap "x" in the top right to close the WebUI dialogue
11. Power down the Viking to finalize the changes
12. Power the Viking back on
13. Go back into SurvPC and in Equip / GPS base or GPS Rover under the "Current" tab tap the blue "i" next to manufacturer to see the new Firmware version

Blue USB Cable + Windows 11 if the steps above failed

1. Download the Viking firmware file to the new computer (if applicable)
Viking_GAMA_1.4.1.swu
2. Power off the Viking and wait 60 seconds
3. With it powered down - hold the POWER button while watching the lights and immediately release it when the RED lights flash in the middle (takes 10-12 seconds)
4. Wait 5 minutes then power it off and power it back on
5. Connect the blue USB cable to the Viking and connect the other end to an internet connected Windows 11 tablet, laptop or desktop
6. Open a web browser and in the address bar in the far top left type in the address below and hit ENTER:
192.168.10.1
7. Tap the "Admin" tab in the upper right / scroll down and tap the "Update" tab
8. Tap “Upload Update File”
9. Browse to the “Viking_GAMA_1.4.1 swu” file in your Downloads folder from Step #1 above and tap Open
This process may take up to 10 minutes
10. Once it is complete it will show "Update Complete" and you can tap the "x" in the top right to close this window then close the browser
11. Power down the Viking to finalize the changes
12. Power the Viking back on
13. Go back into SurvPC and in Equip / GPS base or GPS Rover under the "Current" tab tap the blue "i" next to manufacturer to see the new Firmware version
