The current Carlson BRx5 Firmware Version is 5.6Aa07 dated June 7, 2017
To check the current firmware in your Carlson BRx5 receiver you can run SurvCE 4.07 or higher then go into Equip / GPS
Base or GPS Rover and tap the blue box with "i" in it next to "Manufacturer: Carlson"
If it does not show Firmware: 5.6Aa07 you can use the steps below to upgrade the firmware to the current version.
!!!Please Note: To avoid damaging the unit please install two Fully Charged battery packs in the BRx5 before performing
the Firmware upgrade.
If you own more then one BRx5 GPS receiver you would need to repeat these steps on each receiver to update them all to
the current version.
1) Click the link below to download Firmware update 5.6Aa07 for your BRx5 GPS:

2) Unzip this folder by right-clicking it then clicking "Extract"
3) Insert the SD Card from the BRx5 pelican case into your computer
4) Copy the "Upgrade" folder into the root of your SD Card such as "E:" or whatever drive letter is assigned so it shows
"E:Upgrade" with 3 files in it
5) Power off your BRx5 before inserting the SD card into the slot. DO NOT insert the SD card into the BRx5 while it is
still powered on.
!!! PLEASE MAKE sure to insert two fully charged batteries before powering the unit back on
6) Power the BRx5 on and wait about 10 minutes for it to return to a normal light pattern or when most of the lights on
the front are ON but no longer flashing back and forth.
***In some cases this process may take closer to 15 minutes or more. If the lights are continuing to flash back and
forth left to right - do not interrupt the firmware upgrade as it is still in progress.
7) After all the lights stop flashing it will usually show 5 or 6 lights ON but none of them will be flashing.
It is recommended you wait 30 to 60 seconds after the lights are displayed and it is no longer flashing back and forth
to make sure the process is fully complete. Once the lights have stopped flashing for 60 seconds or more the upgrade
should be finished and you can Power Off the unit and remove the SD card
8) If you have multiple BRx5 units you can just Power them off then insert this SD card into the other BRx5 units then
power them on with two fully charged batteries to repeat the process and upgrade your firmware on the other receivers.
