This is in regards to the difference between a Nikon instrument cable versus a Topcon/Sokkia instrument cable

These cables both have the exact same pin configuration but they ARE NOT interchangeable.  

!!! If you connect to a Nikon instrument using the Topcon/Sokkia cable all communications will fail.


Topcon and Sokkia total station instruments usually have this TDS code printed on them:
"148-CGTSSOK"


Nikon instruments will only work with a Nikon instrument cable that has this TDS code printed on it:
"148-CNTG"


If its a Pentax instrument cable this is the TDS code:
"148-CPENT"
