Running SurvCADD CES on LDD R2+

SurvCADD Launch Icon

The goal in this procedure is to establish a new launch icon with a separate "SurvCADD" profile using (and preserving) the existing LDD installation.

  1. If not already completed, install LDD R2 or higher per it's installation instructions.
  2. Launch LDD using both launch methods. Go to the Windows Start button, choose Programs, Autodesk Land Desktop, Land Enabled Autodesk Map (may be labeled "AEC Enabled AutoCAD"). This will create both profiles in AutoCAD.
  3. Close all running sessions of AutoCAD/LDD.
  4. Begin the SurvCADD CES installation program.
  5. When prompted to "Select Components to Install", turn off the "AEC Object Enabler".
  6. When prompted for "Which version of AutoCAD will be used with SurvCADD", choose "AutoCAD/AutoCAD Map 2000, 2000i, or 2002" as this is the engine used.
  7. When prompted for "Select the AutoCAD instance you would like to start with SurvCADD CES", choose "AutoCAD Land Desktop ..."
  8. Because LDD does not behave as a typical AutoCAD installation you will receive an error indicating "An unfinished installation of AutoCAD ...". Simply choose okay on this dialog.
  9. You will receive a 2nd error dialog giving instruction on how to manually setup SurvCADD on LDD. These instructions are reproduced in detail in the following steps.
  10. Complete the SurvCADD install.
  11. Launch using the newly created SurvCADD launch icon.
  12. At the bottom of the Tools menu, choose "Options" or type PR at the command line.
  13. In the "Options" dialog, under the "Files" tab, expand the "Support File Search Paths".
  14. Choose the "Add" button, then the "Browse" button. Navigate to the SurvCADD install path and choose the "SUP" folder underneath. Choose OK. The SurvCADD folder should now be in the list, the default being "C:\SCADXML\SUP".
  15. With this folder highlighted, choose the "Move Up" button until this folder is at the top of the list.
  16. Then choose "Apply" and "OK"
  17. Issue the "MENU" command and navigate to the SurvCADD\SUP folder. At the bottom of the dialog, under "Files of Type", choose "Template (*.mnu)".
  18. Choose "sc15base.mnu" and choose "Open". You will be prompted to continue loading the MNU file, choose "Yes".
  19. Continue the normal SurvCADD configuration.
