For any RT4 tablet shipped before January 2023 you can follow the instructions below to apply the newest system updates to the tablet to correct power and battery issues and add support for a new replacement battery.

Note: The RT4 tablet requires a 30watt AC wall charger to charge the battery that shows an Output 12 volts and 2.5 amps. You will need to confirm the exact Output voltage and verify if the AC Wall Charger shows the proper 2.5 amps before using the steps below.

  1. Click the link below to install the BIOS update version 1.48 dated May 8th, 2023 into the Carlson RT4 tablet using the Mesa3 instructions below and the file name "M3Updater_UEFI_148_EC_128 exe":
Juniper Systems - BIOS 1.48 update
(This step takes about 20 minutes)
Carlson Software has verified with Juniper Systems these installs are safe to use with our Carlson branded RT4 tablet.
  2. Once BIOS is updated to version 1.48, click the link below to update to OS 24029 dated February 27th, 2024, using the file name "MS3W-OS-patch-24029 exe" which has also been approved for our Carlson branded RT4 tablet:
    Juniper Systems OS 24029 update
  3. After the BIOS and OS patches are installed, the battery firmware will begin updating automatically and you will see the following message:
Warning! Keep the charger connected and the battery door closed
    Updating battery firmware

It usually takes about 8 minutes to update Battery #1 then it will take another 8 minutes to update the internal non-removable Battery #2
(This step takes about 16 minutes)

  4. When Battery #1 has been updated, the message shown above will disappear. Then the message will appear again to show the progress of updating Battery #2

Note: If your tablet was manufactured before March 2022 and you receive "Bios failed unsupported version" while installing the BIOS 1.48 update in Step #1, then you will need to click the link below to download and install OS 22039 first then attempt to install BIOS 1.48 again:

OS 22039 for units prior to March 2022
