Symptom

Program experienced a crash during a function that contains a graphics control based on OpenGL.

Causes

Several factors can cause such crashes and they need to be checked one by one:

Graphics driver out of date

Please see if the graphics driver is up to date. You may be able to see the version in GRAPHICSCONFIG command or in Windows Device manager Graphics Adapter properties.

Third party conflicts

Most frequently seen:

  • Nahimic Audio Service found on MSI, Dell and Alienware computers
  • Sonic studio found on ASUS computers These may be seen as services that need to be stopped and disabled. Please see more details here.

USB docking stations

Many of the models are based on the component called DisplayLink. With Windows updates this component may need to be updated as well: https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/windows.

Data or program issues

The crash may be caused by specific project data or program defects. Please reach out to Carlson Software support if you have a unresolved crashes or lockups.
