Title: Comparing a Surface with Surveyed Points using Cutsheets
Topic ID: 1266 Link to this page
Category: Australia-Pacific Support / Metric - Survey
Modified: 2024-04-19 Created: 2021-07-07

This command creates a report of the horizontal distance and elevation difference between points and a design. The design elevation can be defined by a grid file, triangulation file, 3D polyline, section file, note file, road template file, runway airway clearance or design points. The station and offset of the points can also be reported when a centerline is applied.

Survey → Cut Sheet or cutrprt.

1. Import the survey data using Import → Points, or Import → SurvCE.

2. Assign the target design elevation using a method from the Grade menu.

3. If station-offset are needed, use a method from the Centerline menu.

4. Run Report → Create Report.

5. Run File → SaveAs to save the cut sheet data.

This provides a clear and easy way to view cut/fill data to compare Surveyed data with design data or vice-versa.

Cut Sheet Data

There are a number of different ways to output the results. Before creating the report, go to Report → Report Settings. In here, it's normally worthwhile to use the Report Formatter to allow greater control over the output structure and file types. You can also set Tolerances and Prefix's to suit, along with the Cut/Fill Direction and Distance Units.

Most common settings are:

Data Report Settings

Once this has been completed, go to Report → Create Report. Using the Add > and Remove < buttons in the middle, choose the data you want to display along with the order (using the Green Arrows). You can click on a heading on the right and click Edit to change the Heading, totals, decimals, alignment and width for each one (if necessary).

Data Report Formatter

Once done, choose an output option from under the Report tab located at the lower part of the dialog box.

Tip: It's always worth choosing the Display option first to view the data as a simple text file on screen before outputting it to a CSV or to print it using the Report Viewer option.
