The following comes from one of the SurveyGNSS programmers who discusses the links between the Criteria value (created
under Preferences > Vectors > Simultaneous Static Observations) and the actual time spent in the field on each
position. 


The Criteria column (that appears when running Compute > Candidate Static Values) is based on the Preferences
> Vectors > Simultaneous Static Observations settings indicated, and is merely a rule of thumb for static
Observations based on the type of equipment used. If the Criteria is greater than the Duration
SurveyGNSS simply greys out the candidate Vector to indicate that fact. It does not disallow computing the
Vector, nor does it indicate you will not obtain a Fixed solution; actual results depend on many more factors
beyond time and distance- but these are largely out of your control. Ultimately the resultant Vector Solution and
Quality dictate the evaluation of results irrespective of the actual Duration.

The idea is that if, over time, a user regularly obtains Fixed solutions with much less Duration than
Criteria under similar equipment/circumstances, they should dial down the Simultaneous Static Observations
setting (usually the PPM value) so in future they occupy/observe for the minimum amount of time necessary. You can
experiment with this on existing Vectors by right clicking in the Vectors tab and selecting Compute > Vectors With
Options and squeeze the From, To or Duration times until you no longer obtain a Fixed solution. Conversely it
should be dialed up if the Criteria is regularly met, but Fixed solutions are not possible. Which may
indicate a defective receiver/antenna, or maybe consideration for purchasing newer equipment to remain competitive.
