Trimble Product Activation must be installed before you can use Carlson SurvPC in a Windows 10 tablet to connect to a
Spectra Precision Focus 35 robot

***Please Note: the Focus 35 ROBOTIC standard unit does not support long range bluetooth. It requires a Spectra
Precision 2.4ghz radio bridge as a separate purchase. The attached PDF document has instructions for pairing a ROBOTIC
model to an external 2.4ghz radio bridge from Spectra Precision.

Only the Focus 35 "LockNGo" model supports long range bluetooth communication to the Carlson tablet running SurvPC
without the use of the extra radio bridge.

Once Trimble Product Activation is installed, you can run SurvPC 6.08 or higher and go into Equip / Total Station and
set it for "Manufacturer: Spectra Precision" and "Model: Focus 30/35 (Robotic)" then tap the green check while connected
to the Internet and it will attempt to create and install a Trimble license file for the Focus 35.

This license is a requirement of Trimble/Spectra Precision to allow them to monitor how many field crews are using
Carlson Software with their Focus 35 robotic instruments.

You can click the link below to download and install Trimble Product Activation on your Carlson SurvPC tablet:
Trimble Product Activation Desktop Setup V1.20.002.exe

***If you are using the new Focus 35 "LockNGo" robot that supports Long Range Bluetooth directly from the tablet you
would need to check with your Spectra dealer to make sure the BTLink app is running on your Focus 35 instrument.

SurvPC Version 6.08 and higher can communicate directly to a Focus35 LockNGo model via Bluetooth using the steps below:

1. BTLink must be installed and running on the Focus35 instrument (Check with your Spectra Precision dealer for
details)

2. Pair the Focus35 to Windows 10 using the steps below:

2a. In Windows 10 open Settings / Devices then tap "Bluetooth & Other Devices" and make sure the Bluetooth is switched
"ON"

2b. Tap the + to "Add Bluetooth or other device" while your Focus 35 is powered on with BTLink running

2c. The Focus35 would usually show up as a Bluetooth device starting with "SPF..." followed by serial number

2d. Follow the prompts to pair Windows 10 with the Focus 35 instrument

2e. After pairing, select the Focus35 and tap "More Bluetooth Options" from the links to the right

2f. Tap the Com Ports tab and note the Outgoing com port number

3. Make sure you are connected to the internet before proceeding to the next step so a license can be created and
downloaded if needed

4. Once you are connected to the Internet you can run SurvPC 6.08 or higher and go into Equip / Total Station and set it
for Manufacturer: Spectra Precision and Model: Focus 30/35 (robotic)

5. Tap the Comms tab and set it for "Type = Bluetooth" and select the COM port you made note of in Step #2f above.

6. Fill out the Settings and Search and other applicable tabs then tap the Green Check to install a license and connect
to the Focus 35 instrument

***Based on some external test results from an Equipment Dealer he reported the need to go into the Windows 10 device
manager and change the Outgoing Com Port baud rate from 9600 to 115200 baud to get the proper communication with BT Link
1.1 in the Focus 35 instrument
