The Carlson BRx7 GNSS receiver has a 4G LTE modem that requires a "nano" size SIM chip [9mm x 12mm] with a data plan.

The SIM chip for the BRx7 can be ordered in the link below by selecting the "1GB AT&T + T-Mobile Data Plan":

RTK Mobile - 1gig monthly BRx7 data plan

RTK Mobile 1GB Data Plan

  1. In SurvCE or SurvPC 6.17 or higher you can use the steps below if the IMEI code is required when you setup the SIM chip with the cellphone provider:
    1. Power on your BRx7
    2. Go to Equip / GPS Rover / RTK tab / Device: Receiver GSM
    3. Tap "wrenches" next to "Device: Receiver GSM"
    4. Write down the IMEI code to provide to the cellphone provider (if requested) to make sure the SIM chip inserted into the BRx7 is assigned to the IMEI code of the BRx7 receiver
    5. Set this to "Provider: user" and type in "flolive.net" without quotes in the APN Server box leaving the username and password BLANK for using an RTK Mobile SIM chip (or set it to the appropriate Cellphone Provider such as "AT&T Broadband")
    6. Then tap the Green Check at the top to configure the modem
    7. Tap the green check again in the top right to initialize the rover and save the changes
  2. Insert the Nano size Sim Chip [9mm x 12mm] underneath the battery door of the BRx7 using the SIM chip slot under the small plastic cover as shown below:
    BRx7 Battery SIM Door
  3. Replace the plastic cover then insert the battery and close the battery door
  4. With the BRx7 rover powered on go into Equip / GPS Rover / RTK tab then tap the wrenches icon to the right of "Receiver: GSM"
    1. Set "Provider:" to your preferred carrier (e.g. RTK Mobile)
    2. Tap the wrenches to confirm:
      • "APN Server: flolive.net" for RTK Mobile (or "APN Server: broadband" for AT&T without quotes)
      • Username and password BLANK
      • Tap the green check to save and apply the changes.
    3. Then tap the green check in the top right to initialize the rover.

***If it still shows the "Module Initiating" message you can tap Equip / GPS utilities and tap "Hard Reset" then tap OK to the warning message.

Wait a minute or two until the BRx7 resets back to the normal light pattern then power the rover off and wait 30 seconds then power it back on and wait 1 or 2 minutes for it to initialize.

Now you can go into Equip / GPS Rover and tap the green check in the top right to check and see if this connects properly to the network.

Listed below are the data plan requirements for the Sim Chip / Data Plan to work properly in a BRx7:

  1. Monthly {not prepaid}
  2. Data Only {not Voice + Data}
  3. Corporate/Commercial Account {not Residential or consumer}
  4. Enabled for use in a 4G device {BRx7 has an internal 4G/LTE modem}
  5. IMEI code (obtained from the steps above) entered into the AT&T database to match the BRx7 receiver the SIM chip is inserted into
Please Note: The BRx7 IS NOT Verizon Certified.
